BACKGROUND

The IndigeLab Network connects Indigenous women and gender minority researchers who lead unique research collectives that make room for Indigenous ways of knowing, doing, and being in the academy. The IndigeLab Network will collaboratively investigate methods of making, maintaining, and repairing research cultures in Indigenous, gender minority-led research collectivesacross social and natural sciences and the arts. The goal is to shed light on knowledges and methods of bringing Indigenous methodologies and theories of change into the social worlds of labs, studios, portfolios, centres, and other research collectives. The anticipated impacts of IndigeLab Network activities include: insights into the ways gendered Indigenous methodologies can impact internal research cultures and collectives; collaborative training of over 200 Indigenous and allied students via lab exchanges (over 7 years); influence of international professionalization organizations through research-based recommendations; and an international network of Indigenous women and gender minority researchers, students, and research collectives.

DUTIES
Working alongside the Co-Directors of IndigeLabs Network, the Coordinator will oversee the day to day logistics of running an international Network. Responsibilities include organizing and crafting external and internal communications for the Network (website, newsletter, social media); planning events and meetings (monthly meetings, online workshops, working group sessions); project coordination including taking meeting minutes, craft schedules, and checking in on tasks and deliverables; and interacting with the public via email inquiries and coordinating news media and the blog. This position is also responsible for coordinating events and communications related to accountability and good relations, including check ins around Indigenous Data Sovereignty for Network projects; coordinating meetings about equity in author order; and coordinating community-based feedback and report backs on projects. The Coordinator will work as part of a team to plan and host teach-ins, workshops, and welcoming events, including coordination of the IndigeLab spaces at Memorial University (researcher room, meeting room, artist-in-residence studio). The Coordinator may also use their expertise in areas of art-based communication, podcasts, storywork, various types of facilitation or transformational justice processes, or relationship-first methods; and performing other related duties as required.

A hybrid remote work opportunity is available for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (3-5 years) in project management, program coordination, and/or communications and public relations; graduation from a four-year university degree program in a related discipline; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Excellent written and oral communication skills (including editing and proofreading); attention to detail; organizational abilities; and time management skills are required. The ideal candidate will also have excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite is required. Knowledge of the methods and techniques used to disseminate information for both general public and Indigenous audiences, including using media relations, and using a variety of related print and electronic media are assets. Experience working with students and researchers is preferred.

SALARY                                  $51,611 – $77,412 per annum (Management and Professional)
